No introduction yet
I signed up for the Jul 10 conditioning hike, but my GPS took me the longest possible route, where nearly every traffic light turned red just before I got to it. By the time I finally found the meetup location, everyone was gone. I hope they hadn't waited for me, because I was almost a half hour late. I found the bike trail they must have gone on and walked until I hit a dirt trail, and I could see several trails across the hills above, but didn't spot any people. I hiked about a mile to the plateau and turned left to a steep knoll. I had four questions I needed answered before tackling the Sierras. 1. Could my bum right knee lift me up a steep grade w/o buckling? A. Yes, it held up fine. 2. Would my smashed big toe scream too loud going down? A. OK, it was tolerable. 3. Could my old boots go another season? A. No, the tread was too worn. 4. Would my bifocal sunglasses work out. A. No, I'm better with separate shades and reading glasses. PS-I'll be on time hereafter.
