Kayak Ft George - Cancelled Due to Weather

CANCELLED BECAUSE OF THE POTENTIAL FOR STORMS AND LIGHTNING.

Nice Paddle at a leisurely pace with swimming and a snack on sand bars in river. Expect boat and jet ski traffic. You MUST have your own boat or they can be rented from Kayak Amelia or other outfitter. You MUST contact me to participate. Email works great. Please make sure you have all safety equipment. If anyone wants to learn how to roll be sure to bring your skirt. This is more suitable for sea kayaks but any boat will be OK.

Meet at the boat ramp on A1A/Heckscher Drive about 2 miles north of the Mayport Ferry.

Are we still going? I would take a chance and show up and see what the weather really will be like then..... we might be ok early

Peggy and I have about an hour's drive to get there and the latest report says there might be rain by noon, so we'll just cancel out.

would anyone be interested in a afternoon paddle on Sunday, weather permitting? Would this paddle be feasable for an afternoon?

There's a 50% chance of rain Sun afternoon. Also, afternoon may be bad due to the tides in the area. Low tide can be a problem and tidal currents can be strong. Since I'm not familiar with this area, I'm reluctant to go there in the afternoon.

I respect all discissions to stay safe! No lighting for me. But this morning dawned clear, I checked the radar looks good for now, though I think the storms will come this afternoon. I think I might go for a quick paddle
