Weekday Hike - Theodore Roosevelt Area

Explore the Timucuan Preserve along the St. Johns River on 3.5 miles of hiking trails through hardwood forest, marshes, bluffs, and shell mounds. The Theodore Roosevelt Preserve is a beautiful area! After the hike, you can visit the Visitor Center and the exhibit of the historic Ft. Caroline.

The trail entrance is at 13165 Mount Pleasant Rd., 1 mile southeast of Fort Caroline National Memorial.

Coming from the west of Fort Caroline National Memorial on Mount Pleasant Rd., pass the entrance, go about 2 miles more on Mount Pleasant Rd, and turn left at the brown sign on a cyclone fence on the left that says “Trailhead Parking”. Coming from the east of the Memorial, pass signs for Spanish Pond development and go 1/4-1/2 mile on the right. Brown signs are flat on the cyclone fence.

We found a black knob with an embedded compass on the trail. Looks like it screwed on to something. Anybody missing one?

I am sorry to have missed. I know this is a very nice area, but I had an earlier appointment, and it turned out that I could not get to this event on time.

Bill, so sorry I need to cancel at the last minute! I've been treating my face for skin cancer and the blistering is so bad I cannot get adequate sun protection on the area. Sincerest apologies!
