Hike Gold Head Branch State Park

We will hike approximately five miles on a variety of terrains with some elevation changes. While not extreme, this is a moderately challenging trail. We will meet at the picnic area parking lot.

Once you enter the park and pay ($5.00 per car), drive to the parking lot located about two miles from the ranger station. The picnic area is located at Little Lake Johnson.

Suggest bringing bug spray and plenty of water, but please no children or pets.

To get to the park at 6239 State Road 21, Keystone Heights, FL, take Blanding Blvd 30 miles south from exit 12 off of I-295 West Beltway. You will go through Orange Park and Middleburg heading towards Keystone Heights. The entrance to the park is on the left.

If you would like to carpool, meet in the Olive Garden parking lot by 9:00 am at the I-295 / Blanding Rd exit. The address is 6050 Youngerman Circle, Jacksonville, FL 32244.

Ken, do you know if you're going to scout the trail of Thurs afternoon or Friday morning?

    • Ken F.

Hi Michele: Actually I will probably be out both times walking once and running the other. If you want to join in let me know what works best for you and I can plan to walk, unless you'd rather run? Ken
