Visit Oregon Pictographs and Petroglyphs

Archeologist Tony Farquè from the Willamette National Forest will lead us to a cave of unique ancient Native American Pictographs and Petroglyphs on a hidden trail near Cascadia State Park. Tony has invited a tribal elder to help explain the significance of the many images on the walls of the cave. This is an exciting outing for K-12 Students.

We will meet at the west end of the Pioneer Mall in Springfield parking lot near the EmX "Q Street" station in Springfield at the corner of "Q" Street and Pioneer Parkway for an 8:30am (sharp) departure. Two miles round trip, down hill both ways. Bring a bag lunch and be prepared for rain with good walking shoes. Limited to 30 participants.

Thank you so much, Lon, Tony and Don Day for such an exciting, informative excursion. My mum [age 90] enjoyed every minute of it and was not sore Wednesday. Ready for another one!

I'd like to get a ride with someone who doesn't need to be back by 2:30, and would like to hike the short (3/4 mile) trail to Lower Soda Creek Falls before returning. They are in Cascadia State Park which is next to the site of the cave. You can Google them if you are curious.

    August 25

    • Lon O.

Lets talk about that possibility in the morning. The Soda Creek Falls may well be dry this year, but we can ask the park folks about that. It is a nice short hike.

Linda, I am so sorry about your shoulder pain. I have been using Arnica Cream from Kiva Grocery in Eugene for mine. It works wonders. About the dogs, mine have been begging me for years to come on this outing however for a variety of reasons this remains a no dog outing.

I went on this hike with Tony Farque and another group. It was wonderful there and Tony was exceptional in his presentation. I'll be out of town for this hike, otherwise I'd go again. It is an easy hike and I highly recommend it!

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
