Climb a Volcano (The Twins)

Enjoy terrific views of beautiful Waldo Lake and the peaks of the Central Oregon Cascades. Our destination is the summit of The Twins; a volcano located 3 miles west of Willamette Pass.

It's starting to get chilly in the mountains, so be sure to bring a warm layer or two. Mosquitoes shouldn't be a problem this late in the year.

Difficulty: Moderate
Distance: 6.6 miles
Elevation Gain: 1,600 feet

Preparation: Bring a lunch and snacks, rain gear, warm clothing, sun hat, sunscreen, mosquito repellant, and hiking boots.

Dogs: In accordance with National Sierra Club policy, dogs, other than certified assistance dogs, are allowed only at designated dog events. This outing is not a designated dog outing.

I may be out of town. Also, I am starting a new job and will be working some weekends. Charmaine

No dogs. I guess I'll be leaving the group.

      Hi Mark,

This group will have some dog hikes. I am a dog person and love to have my dog hiking with me. However, we do get a number of people who are not comfortable with dogs, or otherwise prefer non-dog hikes, and so we feel the need to be clear about this distinction.

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
