Strenuous 8 mrt hike across the Sespe and up Piedra Blanca Creek, then some rock and boulder scrambling to our favorite swimming hole. The first three miles of the hike will be fairly flat and easy. After three miles, we will leave the trail and hike 1/2 mile up the creek to the swimming hole. This 1/2 mile is very strenuous, and will take place in the creek bed, with lots of boulder hopping. It takes about 1 hour to "hike" this last 1/2 mile, but you will be rewarded with a remarkable swimming hole.
It can be very hot in August, so bring at least 3 liters of water, plus electrolytes. Also bring lunch, snacks, hat, swimsuit, hiking shoes, and sandals for water crossings. Meet at 9am. Ventura carpool lot (Seaward and Harbor between Chase Bank and Carrows).
If you're coming from Santa Barbara, please meet at the Bank of America at State St. and Hope at 8:15 to carpool down to Ventura (or directly to the trailhead if you know the way).
