To help insure trips will be safe and enjoyable for everyone, Outings Leaders must approve hikers for each trip. To help, please describe your hiking experience the last couple years.

I've climbed Mt Kilimanjaro in 2010, Mt Whitney as an overnight backpack trip in 2011, trekked to Mt Everest Base Camp in April 2013, and did a 3 day hike from Toulomne Meadows to Yosemite Valley in July 2013. I usually do a 5 mile hike on week nights in Griffith Park for conditioning, and a longer hike in the local mountains (San Gabriels, Santa Monica, Mt Pinos or Ojai area mountains) alone or with friends from a hiking group each weekend. I also lead hikes for the Community Hiking Club of Santa Clarita. In the summer, I enjoy short backpacking trips and other hiking weekend getaways in the Sierra mountains. I love to combine hiking with travel and have spent several days hiking in Sedona, AZ on my last two visits there.

How many hiking miles and how much elevation gain are you comfortable hiking perday? Or, how do you keep your legs in shape?

Without a heavy backpack, I like to do 7-10 miles per day, and I am comfortable going to 15. The most miles I have hiked in a day was 20. Most of my hiking involves elevation gain of 2-4k ft depending on where I go and how many miles the hike is. I am also comfortable hiking at high altitudes and have been to 19k ft without getting ill.

Want to backpack? Beginners and seasoned bp-ers welcome! Where have you been, and where would you like to go?

I enjoy short (max 5 days) backpack trips. I have done back pack trips to Mt Whitney, Mt San Jacinto, Mt San Gorgonio, Duck Lake (near Mammoth). I would love to do short back trips to Precipice Lake in Kings Cyn, Mt Langley, and through the Narrows trail in Zion

Introduction

I have been an avid hiker for the last 12 years. I usually like to hike 7-14 miles on weekends locally either alone or with friends. I've gone on a few short backpacking trips, and like to hike Internationally.
