Hallelujah Trail 6-8 miles out and back

This is a fantastic trail just off Hwy 20 outside of Nevada City. Out and back through lush forest and valley that stays nice and cool.  We can go 3 or 4 miles out and turn around.

Coming from Nevada City, the turnoff is on the right, 8.1 miles past the Old 5 Mile House. Shortly after passing the White Cloud Campground/Ranger Station, look for a "Scenic Overlook 1000'" sign; turn right onto the gravel road immediately after that. If you see the overlook on your left, you've gone too far. The gravel road takes you about a half mile to a large parking area.

BRING WATER - there is none at the trailhead, and no cell service either.

OMG best run ever! The organizer brought prizes for everyone! Just kidding, nobody else showed. But, it was a good run.

It's a little hard to find it in the dark, so I will wait at the turn off on hwy 20 - look for a gray Jetta. Keep your eyes peeled for the "Vista Point 1000" sign, it's just 100 yards after that.

@ Tamara. I'm in for a 15m run. Could we meet somewhere in Auburn for a carpool? Maybe off Elm at the grocery store?

Sure. I can meet you at Starbucks on Elm. I can't commit to 15...coming off race Sunday, but that's my goal!

Looks like it's a drive...so I'll have to pick you up at Starbucks about 6:15.

I'd like to get 12-15 in that day! Any takers? And does this trail have that potential?

It links up with the Pioneer Trail at the trailhead, so yes, you can go as far as you like. I think 8mi is about my limit right now, but we could do the OAB on the Hallelujah, then anyone who wants to go longer could go on the Pioneer from there. Sound like a plan?

Also, I would be coming from Cool through Auburn, so I'd be happy to pick anyone up and carpool to trailhead.

No problem. I really want to do a run in this area. I might make it, but was hoping for a 10-12 mile run. Maybe some others will want to add on a little..I'll check back. Thanks for posting this!
