Insanity at Vista View Park

Ok, by request, we're going to kick it up a notch! I can't compare to the awesomeness of Armando's oleta trip, but I'll do my best to give you guys your money's worth.

Vista View Park is a former "dump" that was converted into a nice park.

We meet at the Lakeview parking lot at the top. Bear right at the stop sign after the entrance station, then left. Continue on route. You'll pass a couple parking lots and come to a gate at the top.  The Lakeview lot is on the right.

We will be hiking up and down the steepest part of the "hill", alternating this with laps around the hill for the first 2 hours, with a. 10 minute break after an hour. We'll then do a bonus round- 30 minutes of up and downs on the hill followed by 30 minutes of tabata style strength training exercises.

Great cardio conditioning and great training for anyone who's planning to do any climbing or uphill hiking in elevation (outside the state of Florida).

Bring the usual: water (plenty of it) and possibly some electrolytes as it is going to be very hot, snacks, trail running shoes, bug repellent, sunscreen/sun protection and a fairly "heavy" backpack (20-30 lbs)...let's get used to the weight.

Also bring

A heavy backpack

Trekking poles- if you have a heavy pack

Some light weights (that you can do many reps with)

Some heavy weights if you really wanna burn

Yoga or exercise mat

Knee pads if you have them.

Not permitted for small children or people who are pregnant. Not recommended for pets,  people who do not like to sweat, whiners or the faint of heart. IMPORTANT- this is a group activity and not a fitness class. I'm not a trainer and im not qualified to train any of you, teach you exercises or prevent injury. Know your limits. Do not do any exercises you haven't done before. And, if you have any injuries, ailments or medical restrictions, you should not be doing any of this.

Entrance fee is $1.50 per person. We will begin hiking at 7:15 am. We leave the parking lot at 7:10 am. If you're late, come find us on the west side of the hill.

Colorado hikers- attendance is mandatory ;). Ok, not quite, but If you are going to vista view, i recommend you bring a fully loaded pack, preferably with what you'll be carrying over maroon pass. If you don't pack it, weight it with 20-30 lbs. Your goal is to hike continuously for 60 minutes with a 10 minute break, for 4-5 hours. We're hiking almost 3,000 feet on west Maroone- and the last mile climbs 1,000 feet. The vista view hill is between 60-70 feet

If anyone has any suggestions.....I will be more than happy to hear it.

See you there.

The weather has been pretty nasty and tomorrows forecast is not promising. We should be ok for a couple hours early in the morning, but it'll be a last minute decision.
