Silent Hiking Retreat in Harriman State Park

We love living in the city, but we need to get out into nature every now and then to recharge our bodies and our souls. The purpose of this hike to offer people opportunity to reconnect with the wonder and mystery and awe of the natural world. We will hike in silence except for three guided meditations exploring the beauty of creation. Please join us for a silent meditation hiking retreat in Harriman State Park.

Harriman State Park is easily accessible by bus and car. The hike is moderately difficult but does not require hiking boots (good cross trainers will be fine...this is a real hike though so don't come in flats). This hike is around 8 miles in length and does include a pretty good climb. If you have any physical difficulty this hike is probably not for you. Please check in with me before you buy a ticket.

Because this is a retreat used for meditation purposes NO electronic devices (cameras, ipods, etc.) be used during the hike. You can take photos in the very beginning before the silence and at the end when we've broken the silence, but our purpose is just to be present for what we see and experience.

There is a suggested donation of $10-$15 for the retreat.

If you want to drive there is plenty of parking just north of the Tuxedo train station. Take the right immediately following the train station and you will see it on your left. Please be there ready to go by the time the bus shows up (around 10:10 AM) because we will be leaving shortly after that in order to be on time for the bus trip home. Some people schedule car pooling options on the page below.

If you are planning on riding the bus the ticket to Tuxedo costs $27.50 and can be purchased online or at the Shortline Bus Terminal in Port Authority.
CASH OR DEBIT CARD ONLY - SHORTLINE DOESN'T TAKE CREDIT CARDS (weird, I know, but those are the facts)

We leave from Port Authority on the Shortline Bus (immediately to the left and up the escalators when you enter on 8th Ave between 41st and 42st St.) at 9:10 AM and return to Port Authority at 6:00 PM—so pack lunch. There is a small deli/restaurant where we can grab some dinner before we ride the bus home.

I just read your description more carefully, and 8 miles is more than we are prepared to do at this point. We won't be joining you tomorrow after all, but look forward to getting into better shape or joining you for a 4-6mile hike if you ever do those. have a lovely time in the woods.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
