I'm sure that we all want to keep the volume of messages on this
mailing list low, but here are two time-sensitive announcements of
interest to the group:

1. Tesla co-founders Marc Tarpenning and Martin Eberhard speak in
Mountain View on 4/30:

2. Mentor Graphics is hiring a senior "In Vehicle Infotainment Architect"

3. Not as time-sensitive, but I'd like to solicit participation in a
"Silicon Valley Automotive Open Source Group Organizers' Dinner" for
sometime in the next month at a time and place to be negotiated.
Essentially, I'd like to have a longer chance to chat with members
about their ideas for the group. Please respond to this message if
you'd be interested in attending.

4. Our next meeting is April 18 at Intel in Santa Clara, with John
Lehmann of Mentor Graphics speaking about their automotive Linux
opening, which obviously is growing (see job posting above).

5. We have an exciting roster of presentations coming up in the next
few months, tentatively including Tizen-IVI/Intel, OpenXC/Ford, and
LEAFScan developer Phil Sadow. Suggestions are welcome.

6. I'd really like to have 4 or 5 5-minute presentations by startups
and VCs interested in automotive software and hardware, followed by a
panel discussion. About 15 members identify themselves as
entrepreneurs or investors, and of course we could have outside
startups or investors come in as well. Please contact me if you
would like to organize (and potentially moderate) this panel.

7. The Los Angeles Automotive Open Source group is open for business:

We are also tentatively planning to start groups in Boston and maybe Portland.

8. Note that I continue to post relevant news to

and that there are now links to Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn groups at
