We are a well-funded start-up developing a mechanical device which improves vehicle energy efficiency. We are seeking a talented mechanical engineer who is an expert at developing and launching highly reliable mechanical systems, utilizing high volume manufacturing processes such as die casting, injection molding, sheet metal (stamping, blanking, drawing), and screw machining. Candidate will engineer a complex mechanical product for use in external automotive environments. The job requires a detail-oriented individual who is highly motivated and self-directed.

Essential Responsibilities

- Apply a mastery of machine design, dynamics, mechanisms, and root cause analysis to support product development utilizing various analytical tools (Solidworks simulation, Excel, Matlab, Labview, etc) and lab testing
- Conduct engineering analysis activities; use Solidworks simulation and physical testing to assess dynamic, static, nonlinear plastic/rubber, and thermal behavior of components and assemblies
- Develop mathematical models and Matlab programs to simulate system and subsystem performance in response to environmental conditions and component variation
- Manage and conduct component level R&D/validation testing activities
- Identify and implement DOE activities to improve system performance and reliability in the presence of mfg process variability
- Apply a strong knowledge of manufacturing processes to help the team predict, plan, and respond to mfg process faults during production prototype development
- Play an expert role in helping the team achieve a flawless product launch.

Job Requirements

- Minimum 5 years of experience and at least one full program cycle (concept to production launch) developing high volume consumer, automotive, or military products
- In-depth technical experience with high volume production processes
- Portfolio that demonstrates exceptional engineering analysis capability, a high level of technical ingenuity, and the ability to execute the design of novel concepts through to manufacturing production
- Strong preference for experience (>1 product lifecycle) in executing automotive product development of functionally complex systems with aggressive quality targets
- Proven ability in cross-disciplinary leadership and collaboration in executing development of complex mechanical systems
- Very strong proficiency with Solidworks 2010 or later is required
- MSME from an accredited engineering institution preferred

Compensation: Competitive, with stock options and significant opportunity for growth
