ustyme, with Joe Salesky

  • Jun 2, 2014 · 6:00 PM
  • Creativity, Inc.

Come join us for some schmoozing and a presentation on ustyme, an extremely cool app platform for kids by Joe Salesky, the man behind video conferencing!

ustyme (www.ustyme.com)  is the first platform for content-centered-interaction, bridging the gaps in our time together with video calls that turn screen time into "us-time" using books, games and other activities to create a rich social experience. The meet-up will discuss the potential of content-centered-interaction to increase the value of both media assets and synchronous communication, leveraging today's mobile and web platforms to propel content commerce while creating significant societal value in 1:1 shared experiences with kids. Joe will share the lessons learned as they have rolled out ustyme globally and the opportunity he sees for turning screen-time into “us time”.

About Joe:

With a blend of technical and business skills, Joe has been an innovator creating products that have become part of the enterprise infrastructure and peoples daily lives globally.  As the founder and CEO of several platform oriented companies, Joe is passionate believer in simple-solutions-to-hard-problems, and the creation of successful products, companies and founders with innovation that delights customers and improves our lives.

Previously Joe was the Founder and Chief Strategy Officer of FreeMonee Network, the world’s first gift network built on bank card data, Founder and CEO of ClairMail, the leading global provider of mobile banking and payments infrastructure, CTO of AppStream,  CEO and founder of  Skytron Corporation & PictureTalk, Inc.;  and held  executive positions at nCUBE and Oracle. Under the Clinton Administration he was asked to be a founding member of the Council for Excellence in Government's inter-governmental technology leadership consortium and served as a benchmark for leadership skills development.

Joe has been granted 21 patents on technologies now broadly in use by consumers and essential in people’s daily lives including the original patent for web-conferencing.

I'm looking for designers who want to help design solutions for education this weekend during Startup Weekend Education Oakland event. We bring together designers, educators, developers & hustlers to design prototypes to solve challenges faced in learning & teaching. Startup Weekend Education begins with open-mic 60-second pitches on Friday night that result in the formation of small teams around the best, most viable education concepts.
Teams spend Saturday & Sunday focusing on user research and designing & building prototypes with the help of experienced startup coaches. On Sunday, teams demo their education products and receive valuable feedback from a panel of expert judges. The video below shows the prototypes build during Minneapolis's event.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dfllxtVNFTQ
You can use the discount code Design4EDU to get 50% off your ticket athttp://oakland.up.co/events/7209 which includes 7 meals, infinite Post-It Notes and coffee for the entire weekend.
