Though imperfect,  America's economic and political system - based on capitalism, free enterprise, and democratic principles - has allowed many entrepreneurs to flourish.

Silicon Valley - the innovation capital of the world - is an iconic representation of the success of American capitalism and freedom. The astonishing accomplishments of a multitude of great startups from the early days of Silicon Valley to the present have served as a beacon to attract the best and brightest entrepreneurs from around the world.

Let's celebrate the America's birthday on the 4th of  July by taking in the 75th Annual Redwood City Independence Day Invitational Parade.

This event is the largest Independence Day parade in Northern California. There will be numerous floats, marching bands, and other varied sights and sounds to enjoy in this classic small town 4th of July parade - a slice of Americana, yet representative of the diversity of Silicon Valley, the Bay Area, and California.

We'll meet in front of Starbucks.

After getting acquainted, and  a period of socializing and networking, we'll head to the parade route to secure a good spot to watch the parade.

Afterwards, we will head to Chipotle for lunch.

We can hang out at Cafe La Tartine for dessert, or to stay cool.  Cafe La Tartine is right across the street from Chipotle.

There will also be a 4th of July festival/street fair in downtown Redwood City.  Checking out  the festival after lunch is an option for those who are so inclined.

Please be on time.

Please bring bottled water, sunscreen and a hat, as it will be hot. You can also bring a camera to take pictures.

9:00 am to 9:45 am          Meet at Starbucks for networking

9:45 am                              Walk to the parade route

10:00 am to 12:00 pm      Watch the parade

12:15 pm to 1:15  pm       Lunch at Chipotle, Hang out at La Tartine

Please arrive early to find parking.

It's best to park in the residential area west of El Camino Real near Sequoia High School, which is across the street from Starbucks (which is near the Redwood City Cal Train Station).

Please use Google Maps, Google Earth, and your entrepreneurial smarts to figure out the parking logistics and to locate the meeting place (Starbucks).

Please be on time.

Arriving early will help you avoid traffic and facilitate finding a good place to park.

Taking Cal Train is also a good option.

We will meet up to network, then check out the fireworks in Foster City.

We'll meet in front of Safeway for networking, then we'll head over to the lagoon to pick a spot to watch the fireworks. There will be live entertainment going on all day at the venue.

Give yourself plenty of time to park. Parking further away then walking to Safeway makes the most sense.

We'll wait in front of Starbucks til 9:45 am. We'll then head to the corner of Hamilton and Winslow, about a block away. We'll watch the parade from there. Look for the STOP sign on that corner if you are late.

After the parade is over, we'll head to Chipotle for lunch, which is a block away from that spot.

Fresh Choice is closed, so we will head to Chipotle for lunch after the parade is over.

Afterwards, we can hang out at Cafe La Tartine for dessert, or to stay cool. Cafe La Tartine is right across the street from Chipotle.
