Neighborhood Fruit Picking

Did you know that just in a 1.5 mile radius around SJSU, there are over 3,000 fruit trees?  Instead of letting fruits go to waste, Garden to Table organizes volunteers to pick and donate them.  They assess, harvest, and donate these fruits to the Olinder Food Program and Five Wounds Church.  On average, they harvest 500 pounds of fruit per week.

We will work with Garden to Table by picking fruit in downtown San José and pack them into boxes to donate to local food programs.

Bring gloves, clothes you don't mind getting dirty, and water.

Note: By RSVP’ing to this event, you are agreeing to Silicon Valley Volunteers’ waiver policy. Please go to your profile page and say “YES” to the waiver policy after going through it if you had not done so already.  Click on “My Profile” at the top right-hand corner to go to your profile and then click “Edit Profile” to agree to the waiver. Also, SVV events are only for adults 18 and over.

Thank you to all who came and picked 355 lbs. of fruits, especially on a holiday weekend. I also want to send my appreciation to those who were able to join due to last minute drop-outs. Great work team!

    Hey volunteers,
Happy July 4th to you all. So, the Garden to Table truck will pick us up and drive us to the designated picking spot; so, please arrive on time to avoid being left behind.
    See you all tomorrow.

    Hi folks,
Please take a moment to check your schedule and be certain you’re able and ready to pick PLENTY of FRUITS. For any reason you are not able to join us, please update your status. A 24-hour notice will be much appreciated. This will give the people, on the waitlist, ample time to squeeze this event in their calendar. Your consideration will ensure the success of Garden to Table’s goal. Thank you.

Meeting spot: 999 E. San Antonio St., San Jose (house on corner of 21st street).

Please remember to bring gloves & water.

Contact me at[masked] if you have any questions.

This will be my 1st time with G2T; so, I’m really excited to be collaborating with them. Thank you so much for your generous time and helping hands!
