Sunnyvale Community Services is an independent, nonprofit emergency assistance agency. They are working to prevent homelessness, hunger, and untreated medical problems for low-income families and seniors facing temporary crises. Each month, bags of food are packed for distribution to hundreds of low-income families and seniors.
The Community Christmas Center affords families the dignity of selecting a two-week supply of food, new gifts for infants through teens, and a gift for every household (towels, blankets, basic kitchen items). Over 600 volunteers move tons of food and supplies, sort food and toys, stock shelves, escort clients, accept and pick up donations, and staff the reception area.
We will be helping out this year at the Community Christmas Center by restocking shelves with canned goods and sorting canned goods.
WHEN: Our shift is scheduled from 6:30pm-8:30pm.
PARKING: Please make sure you park in their parking lot to avoid being towed away, and enter the building at the side entrance.
They will be providing drinks for us (water, sodas, hot chocolate, & coffee) during our shift.
All volunteers must be at least 18 years old. Please remember to wear comfortable clothing and closed toe shoes. Also, dress in layers as you might work indoors and/or outdoors. If at all possible, please do not bring personal belongings because they have a limited and unsecured storage space.
I look forward to seeing you all there!
