Join Holiday Party: Data Report Engineering for NoSQL MongoDB

Jointed Holiday Party: Hurricane Electric & SVWB

Speaker: Ben Wen, VP Sales and Marketing at MongoLab

MongoDB v2.2 Aggregation Framework
MongoDB has become the de facto standard for web and mobile application non-relational databases. In the most recent release 2.2, MongoDB greatly expanded its in-server aggregation framework to cover very common inter-document use cases like averaging. These include sub-document aggregations, and pivots. In this talk, we will discuss motivations for aggregation and explore a few examples and work through them in some detail.

* view and aggregate data across MongoDB's document-oriented structure for usability and analysis
* simpler than map-reduce
* composable pipelined operations to break down larger jobs.
* fits in a continuum of data manipulation tools for MongoDB so you aren't limited in expressive power
