SSWG Tuesday Night Meeting: Blogging!

Welcome to the Silver Spring Writer's Group Tuesday Meeting!

The Tuesday meetings are a great opportunity to get to know the writers in our group.  With a more casual format than the Saturday meetings, we typically meet from 7pm - 8:30 pm ET on the fourth Tuesday of the month.

The meeting is divided into two parts:

(1)  Introductions

(2)  Targeted Discussion

Introductions is a time to introduce yourself, your work, and any issues you may be facing that you think your fellow writers can help with.

Targeted Discussion is just that - a chance to talk about anything and everything related to your writing, writing in general, literature as we know it today!  Typically I'll try to provide a handout or resources focused on a particular area of writing (such as narrative structure, character, dialogue, etc).  Sometimes we also do writing activities, where each individual will have approximately 20 minutes to write and then share (if you want!) with our colleagues to get additional ideas about what's working.

Focus for the 12/17/13 Meeting: Blogging Do you have a lot to say and use an online space to say it?  Do you have a favorite blog and you're thinking of starting your own?  We'll be discussing blogging, how to get started, and how to expand your online network of writing.

If you blog, feel free to bring a printout of your most recent post to share!

UPDATE: The Tuesday night meeting location is at Zed's Cafe, located at 8225 Georgia Avenue, just a few blocks south of the Discovery Building (directions at http://www.zedscafe.com/directions.html).  (We meet here at the request of attendees who were having trouble hearing over Qdoba's evening clean up routine.)

I've been battling a cold--and this latest arctic blast has convinced me I'd better stay in. So I'm likely to miss the gathering tonight--but hope to catch the next one.

I was looking forward to the topic, but life is getting in the way of me attending tonight. I'm bummed to miss it. Stay warm, y'all!

I wish I could come but way too much going on with my life at the moment. :(

No worries, Jeffrey - we'll be here when things slow down.

I know you'll probably do another Blogger day discussion so I won't feel too bad. I do write short stories but it's nice to discuss my online journaling about Electric Cars as that's a big part of my life too.

    State of the Union address!

We will have a hard stop at 8:30, for those folks who want to watch the State of the Union. Of course, this doesn't allow for all the pre-game activities...

It's later than I like but I'll try to make this one to talk about the Affordable Electric Car Site I run and also I'd point out as an Electric Car driver, and probably the only one planning to come, I will try to park at the Giant in Silver Spring and walk the rest of the way because they have an Electric Vehicle Service Equipment station there that's a bit pricy but practical as I need it to get home.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
