Let's play some MORE board games! October 12th @ Simi Valley Library

Hello Gamers!

This time we have reserved the meeting hall in the Simi Valley Library. Pictures are available in the Photo section as to what the venue looks like.

I figured it would be in our best interest to venture our to a couple of different venues before deciding which one we like the best.

The Library has a strict set a rules we must adhere to, but the benefit to this is we get our own large space (can hold up to 150 people!) similar to a convention styled setup.

There are NO meals allowed, but the rules allow for "light refreshments." When asked, the administrator mentioned that things like juice and crackers were fine just not full meals and things like cake. To me this sounds like things like chips, sodas, water, and snacks are okay. The room also has a door that exits right onto the main entrance in an open area... So if food is extremely important you would be able to eat out there.. Just make sure you clean up after yourself. Maybe we can all chip in for pizzas? We'll just eat them outside to avoid rule conflicts. Let's talk about some ideas around this.

The rules also state this event must be open to the public. Honestly, I don't have any issue with this rule as more gamers means more fun and games. On the off chance someone not from Meetup shows up please do not turn them away.

Last, the price for 5+ hours is 100 dollars. The latest we can go is until 9pm (which I have reserved). I have marked the end time 30 minutes early so we have an appropiate amount of time to clean up. There will be no member fees/event admission charges so if you would like to donate to the cause it will be welcomed! Just get in contact with either Julia or Myself. Donations are NOT mandatory and will 100% go towards funding this event or the next.

I hope to see you there,

-Blake

Yeah I'm not sure what happened. I think it just couldn't handle how awesome the group was.

I think you're right, Kat! Meetup had a brain freeze.

For some strange reason it says only 1 attended but there were at least a dozen or more of us -- kinda weird... I think MeetUp hiccupped!!!

Smaller turnout than The Junkyard, I think because it was a Friday. Still had fun! Was nice to meet Kiri, Gina(I think that was gina!) and see some familiar people. I found a new fun game, Archaeology!

I just noticed you moved the time to 3 PM -- it was 4 before. As I said, I won't be able to get there until 4:30 due to work. If you are starting at 3 PM, will it still be worth it for me to come at 4:30? Please let me know!

I understand what you're saying. But I prefer to not even step foot in a Denny's, thx.

I'm not going this time. But, I don't patron Denny's. Just an F.Y.I.

It doesn't have to be Denny's. I only meant it as a generic term for a place with tables that stays open all night and tends to tolerate gamers. I don't mind if you substitute this name with the name of your prefered venue.

Also, you don't need to do anything but play games. As long as a bunch of people are going to pay for food Denny's wont care about your patronage.

I love this plan... except for the day and time. I'm usually working on Fridays at 4 pm. Will you be moving to a Denny's after 9 pm?

    September 26, 2012

    • Blake B.

It could happen. If people want to keep going after the event and I'm not gamed out I'm sure it is something we can look into if Denny's (or anyplace) will take us.

      September 27, 2012

  • Julia W.

I have no problem moving to a Denny's or something after 9 if people want to continue playing! We are also still working out what works best for everyone... Obviously with such a large group of people we won't be able to fit EVERYONE'S needs, but we will sure try! :) the more people who speak out about the best times and days for them, the more we can try and schedule.

Aw, and it's on a Friday. By the time I get home from work, it'll be over. Boo.

    September 26, 2012

    • Blake B.

Noted! I encourage everyone with schedule conflicts to speak up. We are scheduling events on different days to see which work the best for the group. Keep an eye out for the next event which should have a different day.
