London From Above

Following Matt's suggestion, we'll spend an afternoon looking down on London rather than looking upwards, and visiting several towers to get the best views of London and its skyline - a fascinating juxtaposition of historical buildings and modern architecture.

The late start is partly as I'll be coming back early from Leeds, and also so that we can benefit from the angle of the afternoon sun for this one.

As none of the locations are close enough to each other to cover by walking distance, please make sure you have a valid travelcard for the day. I'm avoiding the pricier towers, so the only additional cost will be £3, which you can pay me, and I will pay on your behalf.

Please pay in cash on the day, and if you need my phone number, it's 07955 861414. Please ensure I have your phone number, otherwise I won't be able to contact you if you get separated from the group.

Shame I had to run off so quickly, but was nice to see new and old faces again and get another viewpoint

Hi there- have you arranged access for the group to go up the towers? also will there be entrance fees to go up the towers?

    March 7, 2014

    • Chantal G.

      £3 each.

Yes - security & reception can be a problem sometimes. I usually hide my camera on the way into these places, though I don't have a DSLR so it's easy for me to tuck it under my jacket.

Yea, I have free myself, join you later!

In case anyone coming to this meetup fancies getting up to London early on Sunday for a little extra treat, I just saw this event online. Seems like somewhere a photographer would have a ball. I can't see an opening time, but I think it may be 10:30.

I tried to get into that one the last time it was on but the queue was enormous! Get there early if you want to go. Lots of shiny vintage cars outside even if you don't get in.

It's free to visit the Paramount restaurant and bar at the top of Centre Point - though they'll probably expect you to buy a drink :-). If you call[masked] and ask to make a bar reservation, if the time slot is open they'll ask for your name and email address. They'll also want the first names of the other members of your party. There's kind of a dress code, but it's basically no ripped jeans or trainers (and they don't always enforce it). Also, if you have a big bag they might search it, and I don't think tripods are allowed. It's a bit of hassle but the views are fantastic.

Thanks, they're on my list! I had a migraine when I got home last night (leaving present from now-ex-job) hence not putting in more detail.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
