Epping Forest: Landscape Photography & Tudor Reenactment

... Because what goes better together than nature photography and medieval reenactment? So let's kill two birds with one stone, taking a lot of good photos along the way!

Epping Forest will be the first of our landscape photography sessions, but there's also a real medieval reenactment taking place, so we'll shoot that too while we're there.

Details: "Enjoy a day brought alive by enthusiastic costumed re-enactors from 500 years of history. " - www.cityoflondon.gov.uk/things-to-do/green-spaces/epping-forest/sports-events-and-activities/Pages/eppingevents.aspx

We'll meet at the pub next to Liverpool Street station beforehand and travel together to Chingford station, which is in zone 5. Depending on latecomers, we will aim to catch the 12.48 train, otherwise we'll catch the 13.03.

Please pay in cash on the day, and if you need my number, it's 07955 861414.

Nobody's arrived yet, so I'll be heading off shortly. If you want to go ahead with this, catch a train to Chingford and the reenactment is at Queen Elizabeth's Hunting Lodge.

The weather forecast for Saturday basically seems to be "rain and more rain." From the photos I've seen, it looks like the reenactment will be entirely outdoors so we can't rely on any indoor activities for shelter.

Hi Chantal because of the dodgy weather and it all being outside, think I'm going to give today a miss. Hope you guys manage to get some worthwhile shots

Sorry, Chantal, I can't make this one now because I have friends visiting from Germany that weekend. Just a heads-up but it looks from the Epping Forest website that you need a £50 per person license for non-commercial photography. Say it just ain't so! :-( Website: http://www.cityoflondon.gov.uk/things-to-do/green-spaces/epping-forest/visitor-information/Pages/Licences.aspx Licence application form saying the same thing. https://wwwstage.cityoflondon.gov.uk/things-to-do/green-spaces/epping-forest/visitor-information/Documents/licenses%20info%20pack%20light%20green.pdf

I've spoken to three people; the licences only apply to commercial or portfolio work, and not to general "people with cameras". We're advised - of course - not to take any photos of children, and ask people's permission before taking their photos. The usual, y'know ;)

Thanks for confirming that, Chantal, because it's not exactly clear on their website. An acquaintance of mine does a lot of photography in Epping Forest and she told me that she's been hassled about it a few times.
