Practice your self-rescues, assisted rescues and stroke techniques. You can practice basic skills of just getting in/out of your boat in warm water.
There are lifeguards on duty but it never hurts to practice with your PDF on.
You will see individuals practicing with whitewater kayaks, sea kayaks and rec kayaks. This is a public pool open to any paddler to come practice skills. The kayakers are from different clubs that come to the same pool to practice skills. It's a great way to meet people and find out about the different clubs and their events.
You will see people in bathing suits and neoprene wet suits HOWEVER I WOULD RECOMMEND WEARING A NEOPRENE SUIT OR NEOPRENE PANTS/TOP/VEST BECAUSE IT GETS VERY COLD AFTER BEING IN THE WATER FOR 3 HOURS.
I may or may not be at the event...I am just posting this for anyone that wants to practice rescue skills during the winter in a warm pool.
The pool session for kayakers is from 5pm to 8 pm on Fridays.
The fees are:
$4.00 for Raleigh Residents
$8.00 for non-residents
