We are having two public holidays together in August 2013, 8th Aug (Thursday) being Hari Raya Puasa and 9th Aug(Friday) being National Day. So it is time to come out and enjoy Mardi Gras Party after two public holidays with masks and beads on a lovely Saturday Night.
The celebration of Mardi Gras came to North America from Paris, where it had been celebrated since the Middle Ages. In 1699, French explorer Iberville and his men explored the Mississippi River from the Gulf of Mexico. On a spot 60 miles south of the present location of New Orleans, they set up camp on the river's West Bank. Knowing that the day, was being celebrated as a major holiday in France, they christened the site Point du Mardi Gras.
In New Orleans, we know the biggest party in the world – Mardi Gras.
