What is Bachata?
Bachata - both music and dance - began with the lower classes of the Domincan Republic but is now fast gaining in popularity around the world. The sentimental and sensual feel of the music is marked by a bawdy humour that connects the celebration of food, love and a macho delight in elaborating upon the ability of women to overpower men!
Bachata, the dance, is characterised by its close, intimate hold and smooth, flowing movements accented by a naughty hip movement. It is both a sensual and romantic yet fun dance that is simple to learn and enjoy
An increasing amount of people are becoming more interested in bachata dance, as there are many different advantages to learning the steps and becoming familiar with the music. Some of the many benefits involve increasing overall health, building confidence, learning a new skill, making new acquaintances, lowering blood glucose levels, and improved hand and eye coordination.
