Comedy Kampong (June show) - Malaysian Madness

Let's enjoy an evening of side-splitting stand-up comedy! (Note: the show is in English.)

"Comedy Kampong" is back -- with a fresh new lineup of comedians! This month's show (Malaysian Madness) features some of the top stand-up comedians from Malaysia, ready to make you laugh your socks off.

Tickets are a bargain -- only $10 per person for an evening of comedy and laughter.

JONATHAN ATHERTON (Australia/Malaysia)
-- one of Australia's finest stand-up comedians, who now lives in Malaysia. As the founder of The Comedy Club Asia, Jonathan is known throughout the comedy scene as Asia’s very own Laugh Guru.

Speaking more languages than your average U.N. delegate (he speaks Malay, German, Thai, Swahili, and many more)... Jonathan has performed to sold-out crowds in London, Ireland, Amsterdam, New York, and all across the Asia and Australia comedy circuits. The truth and poignancy of his rapid-fire comedy will have you laughing... and thinking.

“Will leave his audience utterly enthralled... if they ever stop laughing”  [THE COMEDY CHANNEL]

Here's a little taste of Jonathan Atherton's comedy --

KAVIN JAYARAM (Malaysia) -- One of Malaysia’s most underrated comics, Kavin is a grumpy joke-telling machine. He may be grouchy but he does it with such panache, you can’t help but laugh. As one of the favourite performers with The Comedy Club KL, Kavin has shared the stage with world-class comedians (such as Glenn Wool, Vir Das, Paul Ogata, Sugar Sammy, etc), and performed to 15,000-strong crowds with much success.

Kavin is also a popular TV and radio host in Malaysia. He is the co-host of "The Really Really Late Breakfast Show" on Red FM, as well as "Football Overload" on Astro SuperSport, and he has been a featured speaker at TEDxKL.

“A very consistent performer... one to watch for” [THE COMEDY CLUB KL]

Date and Time: Sunday, 15th June 2014, 5:00 pm
(The show starts at 5:30 pm, but we'll be there from 5:00 pm to mingle before the show. Show duration: ~ 2 hours)

Hood Bar & Cafe @ Bugis+ (formerly Iluma)
201 Victoria Street, #05-07, Singapore[masked]
(The venue also serves food, if you'd like to have your dinner there.)

$10 -- pay at the door

After you enter the venue, just look for the tables with a sign that says "Reserved for Meetup". There will be a bunch of tables reserved for our Meetup group, and they should be easy to spot if you just look for the signs. But if you can't find our tables, you can just ask the doorman where the Meetup group members are seated.

(Optional) If you'd like to mingle with fellow Meetup members, you can get a blank name tag at the door. Just write your name on the name tag, and wear it - so fellow Meetup members will see your name tag, and come say hi to you. And if you see fellow Meetup members with a name tag, feel free to go up and say hi to them too! (No need to be shy, because everyone wearing a nametag is ready and open to mingle.)

** Map/Directions to Hood Bar & Cafe:
Hood Bar & Cafe is at the 5th level of Bugis+ (formerly Iluma) -- just across the road from Bugis Junction and Bugis MRT (EW12). See this map for the location of Bugis+ :

Hi just wanted to check... can we be in casuals like shorts and a tee

Based on past shows, some people came in casuals and it was fine. No promises though - the dress code is up to Hood Bar, and not me. But I don't think they'll be too particular about dress code on a Sunday afternoon.
