Organised by Bike-Aid Singapore, a registered society which comprises of mainly volunteers pursuing a common goal to help the under-privileged through various ride events over the years.

In the past three years, all the raised funds are channeled to the needy families residing in mostly one-room rented flat in Marsiling and Chai Chee under the care of Sunlove Home (http://www.sunlovehome.org.sg/) which Bike-Aid has been earnestly supporting.  The funds are utilised for the purchase of essential rations worth S$70 which will be given to the identified families in the two places on a monthly basis.  Separately on most third week of every month, Bike-Aid will organise a ration distribution inviting volunteers and supporters to help out in the two places.

This is an invite to SOS members to join us in Ride For Rations 2014 which is scheduled on 22 Aug to 24 Aug 2014.  You can participate as cyclist, support crew (with car or without car) or fund raiser.

Our cyclists will have to cycle from Malacca to Singapore covering a distance of some 240 km over 2 days ride.  There are support cars providing drinks and bananas along the way.  Our cyclists will come with their sleek roadies, hardy mountain bikes and cute looking foldies and we welcome all.  It is not a race and our cyclists will ride at their own comfortable pace.  "We'll leave no man behind and ladies included" - rest assured.

The first day of ride will start on 23 August, Saturday in the morning in Malacca and we should all arrive in Batu Pahat in the afternoon.  Distance - 100 km.  Some faster riders are expected to arrive before noon.  There is a group dinner at the hotel for all in Batu Pahat.

We will resume our ride in the morning on the second day, 24 August, Sunday.  We should arrive in Pekan Nanas town in the afternoon which will be our last break before heading back to Singapore.  Some can choose to take the coach which is on standby.  The coach will take you to the Johor immigration where you have to cycle all the way back to Marsiling which is our final stop.  Those who are not taking the coach at Pekan Nanas town will cycle all the way to Marsiling via Woodlands check point.  Distance - 140 km.

We are still finalising the hotels in Malacca and Batu Pahat for our accommodation and we will make announcement once we have finalised that.  We will need to take a coach which will bring us and our bikes to Malacca on 22 August, Friday.  The pick up venue is still not finalised and the gathering time is likely at 1000 hrs.  Some supporters with own cars will drive to Malacca to meet us there.

For cyclists who are keen, you need to raise a minimum sum of S$500 through private donations from friends and relatives on top of the registration fee.  Our registration fee is S$280 per person (twin-share) or S$350 per person (single occupant) which covers the following:

• 2 nights hotel accommodation

• One way coach transfer to Malacca

• One group dinner on day two

• Drinks and bananas during 2 days ride

• A specially designed "Ride For Rations 2014" jersey

• A post dinner (date & venue to be decided later)

• A completion certificate

For supporter, you just need to pay the registration fee.  However, if you wish to raise fund, it is definitely appreciated.

How to register:

• You may RSVP on this event page.

• However, you need to go to this link,  http://bikeaid.org.sg/and scroll down to "Register for RfR 2014 here".  Please click that link to register.

• Payment is only made to the organisers during the monthly ration distribution where registered cyclists and supporters will need to attend and briefing will be conducted too.

Please give us your support.  Ride with us and help us to help the underprivileged. Our fund raising target for 2014 has been raised and we are confident we can achieve our set target.
