SG Quantified Self 08: Toolmaker Talks & Potluck

Well hello everybody,

Apologies that I am a little sleepy so this will be short. We have a date for our next meetup - the very lastest one of the year! I can think of no better time to come out and meet your fellow self-trackers than Thursday, December 13th! Is that the sounds of diaries being pencilled in that I hear? Awesome.

And we have a fun evening lined up for you all!

One of our newest members, Juliana, is working at a local startup making some really interesting sensors and mobile apps. She's agreed to do a short talk and I don't want to give too much away yet, but I'll tell you this - it will make our friends in QS Amsterdam rather jealous that we have her as a speaker.

Then, if I can ever stop procrastinating, I will demo a little Fitbit integration that I've een working on. It's rough, and nowhere near ready, but come December it will be ready for your data. So if you're a Fitbit fan (and there may be one or two in the group), I look forward to your feedback.

Finally, I thought that with it being the last meetup of the year, we should celebrate a little. So I suggest that we hold a potluck dinner - everyone bring a dish or some snacks to share and maybe we can spend a little time just hanging out. And I will try and sort out the atrocious wine situation too! More better wine please!

As usual, if you have any questions or suggestions, please do ping me by email or phone - details below.

Until the 13th then,
Ciaran

p.s. and to our American members, on both sides of the globe, happy thanksgiving! This year, I am thankful to have made a bunch of new friendships with a whole lot of crazy people. Thanks, crazy friends!

How often do you meet an 11-year old who successfully got his Kickstarter "The Spy Who Coded" project funded? Not that often I'll say.

Holy crap! I wasn't looking at the attendee list and it's swelled to 27 people. Are you all really coming? Because that's super cool.

I really had better finish my talk before Thursday...

Everyone- I created an iPhone app called Expereal for lifetracking and am still trying to get feedback for V.2. It was written up on the popular blog Boing Boing for anyone interested. Feel free to contact me via the website with any questions. Thank you.: http://boingboing.net/2012/11/21/expereal-iphone-app-to-ratea.html
