The Singer's Salon is an opportunity to sing for your peers and others, in a safe and nurturing setting. It is a place to refine your performance skills, try out new material, or just get more comfortable in front of an audience.
The Salon meets once a month and is a venue for singers to perform. It is NOT karaoke or group singing, although you could certainly do a duet or small group if you wanted. Both beginners and more experienced singers are welcome, and all genres are welcome.
We are trying out a new space which is 3160-Chicago's Piano and Cabaret, a cool little cabaret space at 3160 N. Clark Street. This is the first really "public" venue for the Singer's Salon, but I think it may prove to be fabulous for us! They have a cabaret space in the back on an elevated section, with a gorgeous baby grand and little cafe tables. There will be a few changes: no suggested cover, instead, they have a two drink minimum. Naturally, this can be soft drinks or whatever if you don't want to imbibe. Please keep your feedback coming by the way. I always want to hear about your experience.
For those of you new to the Salon, I am a singer, voice teacher and performance coach. I host the event and usually kick it off with my acoustic band, The Red Apples. Maggie Dahlberg will be on hand to sightread your music and accompany you on piano if you like. The intention is for this to be a nurturing and supportive environment to try out new material or learn how to perform before an audience. I will offer some tips, and I also offer a discount to folks who come to the Salon and would like to take lessons or coaching sessions to whip a song or two into shape!
We are on Facebook! click on the facebook link on the homepage and like us! There is a link to my blog there also where I write about the Salon! check it out! Here is a link to my website...www.vocalperformanceworkshop.com
Feel free to call or email me with questions. It would be great if people can rsvp as it is a small space. Also if you'd like to come and just watch (and/or bring your support people) that is great too!
Thanks and I look forward to hearing many new singers!
