You can't be from Texas and not dig the Blues! I'm one of Antoine's women. I want to go on record to say "Larry, you da Bomb!" Thank you so much for all the work with Meetups but most of all, introducing/re-introducing this phenominal and historical place to listen and dance to America's Best Music the Blue's! Peace Brother
Back in the "day" I was usually part of the band.....never learned those fancy dance steps....on my bucket list now
I've been going to the RR since the 80's. I met peps there that continue maintaining those friendships all these years.....I don't have blood kin that loyal! I haven't been able to go out much since moving back but did see Sugar Thieves finally at Copper Blues, hey these guy's are great! One of the best groups I've heard in years...outstanding musicians. Boy! can you guy's dance to their music..!
My personal best time was a surprise birthday party (too many years ago for me) there. Check it out, a friend fixed me up with a friend of his - "blind" date in town from Detroit, I hate doing that...but?? They knew I would insist on going to RR....We got there and up on the stage was my old high school bud and a fellow musician Joe King Carisco! Hadn't seen each other in years! OMG! I will tell you we tore up the place and had a blast...Oh yeah, that "blind" date and I still see each other whenever we can (ie) "Same Time Every Year" and go to the Rhythm Room. A great place, a great time and with great people, folks, that's the legacy of the Blue's - from Leon, to Jeniva, to Coco the good memories are always playing there.
I'm a TexAZian and been a friend of the RR since late 80's? OMG! I'm jazzed about this meetup. I will brush up on my dancing LOL I have great energy but not a great dancer. I do have fun!
