Hi John, I've been trying to reach you. Click on your picture. Hopefully, my message is there. Lost your phone number. I'm riding Sat. w/SMR to Scott's Valley. Can you make it?

Just an FYI to All: emails sent through meetup go to an individual's own email. However! They too often go to one's spam folder and even a Reply, addressed to the sender's personal email address, can go to their spam folder too. A sure way to know someone's received a message is to place a greeting on their profile - greeting's are sent via meetup HQ so there isn't a Reply feature. Include your email address in the greeting. Also, you can immediately delete the greeting and the email of your greeting is still sent/received. Whew, got all that ;]

What a great day riding. We even timed it right and saw the winning only goal in the World Cup Finals at our lunch stop. Thanks everyone for coming out and sharing the day with us. Thanks to Val and Mickey for leading and sweeping group two. As always thanks to Joe L for always being my trusted sweep. Joe L being "clean" shaved for the ride, we almost didn't recognized him. Everytime I turned the corner and looked for my sweep, I did a double take. Oh yeah, that is Joe! ;)

Join us next week on the 23rd for a very short short ride and for some good bbq plus music at the Smokin' Pig.

    July 13

I am afraid I can't make it today, I am down with a flat on the the front tire. I know it is going to be a beautiful ride. I will be back up and running for later rides this month.

  • gerald j.

I really want to ride with you guys. I'm on the waiting list Let me know if I can go ??

    July 12

    • Roger

Someone dropped last minute. You are on on the go list.

      July 13

  • David A.

Just a thought but ... maybe have two separate groups leave 30-45 minutes apart? If it's logistics with not having enough "pack leaders", road captains, etc. or just not enough volunteers I understand.... and pardon me if this has been brought up numerous times already ;O)

    1 · July 13

    • Mikey

Hey David we usually do have 2 groups. However most often they leave within a few minutes of each other. All details of the ride will be discussed during the safety talk :-). Looking forward to meeting you.

      July 13

  • Cheryl

Sorry but since I was on a wait list I made other plans. Next time.. Thanks.

    July 12

  • Sandy

Any idea what time the ride will end?

    July 12

    • Valerie

We'll likely be rolling a little after 11am. The route is 2.5 hours + 2 stops @ ~ 30 min each + 1.5 hours for lunch (lol, didn't I share this formula with you before :) If all goes well with no snafus around 4pm+. 27 bikes - no guarantees on snafulessness ;]

      July 12

I'm riding with Mikey if I get off the wait list for Sunday. :)

  • Ron B.

Looking forward to riding with the group. Don't seem to catch the destination earlier enough.
I would lie go think the more experienced riders would take the newbies under their wing for guidance. Safe riding and open roads.
Pescadero is a nice ride, it seems to be my destination for breakfast on Saturday mornings. Great general store and Duarte's is always a great place to eat. Try to grab a piece of Ollliberry pie.the best.

    July 12

    • Valerie

Hi there Ron, Thank you for your comment. We have all skill levels in the group from just 1k miles to highly experienced. So, we post a variety of rides; short, long, easy, to technical. We're quite fond or mentoring our newbies. However, to service our diverse ridership we post rides that are not newbie friendly, such as this one. Yep, this ride we'll be enjoying the sunny summer day on the grassy picnic tables of the Pescadero General Store chowin' down on their terrific sandwiches :)

      July 12

  • joedimaio

Crap. I have to bail I just won't make it to the safety talk and I don't wanna be 'that guy' rolling in a half hour late. Bummer.

    Hi gang,
I'm on stand by, to stand by.

If I'm good to go, I'm leathered up, saddle ready.

I may join you guys for coffee even if I'm odd man out.
I will be going Hwy 9 and up to Alice's.

    Keep the chrome side up...

    Robert

    July 12

  • Valerie

Hi Folks, 'As always review a route...' Page Mill Road is not newbie friendly. In particular, there's one steep uphill, declining radius, right turn that requires technical skill.

When you click on a route tight twisties in a mountain area are indicative of a higher skill level. If a road looks like you'd like to learn more google it with 'video'. Here's a video taken from a car. It's quite disturbing to watch this yahoo tailgate an obviously newer rider. And it's also a shame the rider doesn't have the common sense to pull over and let the car by. Watch from 4:30 on https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VhfHckV8aBU

    • Valerie

I wonder if those on the wait list receive emails of the comments..? Kimberly, Chris D, Ron Sheridan did you receive an email of the above?

I did receive emails of the comments Valerie.

  • David A.

So I just checked out the route. Been all through there, down 35 to 9 and into Santa Cruz, down the coast into Monterey, etc. and it never fails to make me grateful that I'm still alive. Mere minutes from urban blight and the reckless cagers is all that beautiful country up there. Got any rides planned into Boulder Creek? They have a street fair or two during the Summer that is pretty cool to attend.

So. is it just show up with lid, bike, and safety gear? I haven't done a group ride with any of you yet- its mostly been with my duck buddies so far...

    June 20

    • Roger

Hi Joe. Yes, Helmet and all the gear you have. We will explain about rules and group riding etiquette at the safety talk before the ride. If you have any questions, email myself or Val. Welcome to SMR and we are looking forward to riding with you.

      1 · June 20

    • Valerie

No worries, Joe. At every ride there's several people who have never ridden in a group before. SMR is well known as the safest group in the bay area and you're in good hands, Joe. And as Roger mentioned, everything you and others need to know is in the mandatory Safety Talk. See you soon, Joe!
