Let's treat ourselves at least once for the New Year, and enjoy this special evening. The club is in YOUR Alexandria neighborhood and everyone should experience it at least once. We will feel like queens and kings in this absolutely beautiful venue! The performing group has been together since the mid-70s. We will love the oldies, which will include a variety of rock n roll, country, rockabilly, doo-wop and even a couple of old jazz standards. Most of them sing and are quiet entertaining. There will probably be mostly our peers attending, including over 15 members of another senior group (although as of now, they do not have specific seating and are scattered throughout). So we may see acquaintances there, or make new ones.
Reserved Table for Six. First-come; first-serve. For Members Only. Purchase first - then sign up. Otherwise, you risk being removed from the attending list. Since we only have six seats, we want to give everyone a fair chance. (If we should fill the RSVP list quickly, right now, there is one identical table available next to this one.
PERFORMANCE. The Fabulous Hubcaps is one of the nation’s most sought after oldies and classic rock show bands. Their career has been as diverse and colorful as the bowling shirts they wear. On any given month, their schedule may take them from Miami to Pittsburgh, Atlanta to Detroit, or Albany to Washington, DC. Inducted into The Southern Legends Entertainment and Performing Arts Hall of Fame in 2005, The Fabulous Hubcaps have been the choice of entertainment for decades. Check them out by pressing here.
VENUE. One-of-a-kind establishment is more than just a restaurant or a music venue -- it's a supper club and a full-scale entertainment experience. Discover the elegance and glamour of the past in a modern setting at the Carlyle Club, a unique restaurant, bar and lounge offering unforgettable ambiance just outside of Old Town, Alexandria, Virginia. See the club's website for pictures here.
TICKETS. Please purchase your ticket before signing up. Cost is $25. To purchase tickets, call the club directly at 703/548-8899. Say that you want a seat at Table 42 with the meetup group. Do not use the website to purchase your ticket. Note that there is also an additional $25 minimum food and beverage purchase per guest. I have not seen them hold strictly to the minimum, but you should, at a minimum, order something to eat and drink from the menu. Their food is very good; their service attentive.
DIRECTIONS. From the center of Old Town, head out on Duke St., past Patrick, Henry and West. Pass Diagonal Rd, then Wholefoods on your left. Then you come to a light where you make a left onto John Carlyle St. Go about a block and you see the circle. Just before going around 1/2 of the circle, you will see the club on your right side.
PARKING. Street parking is usually available without problem. A parking garage beneath the restaurant is available for $5. Access to the parking garage is behind the building, around the block. Just take the first right past the restaurant in the roundabout. This is probably still John Carlyle St. Then take the first right again onto Ballenger St. The parking garage is on the right. Take the elevator with The Carlyle Club sign to the first floor. The Club entrance is directly off the elevator. If you park on the street, just step in the front door.
