Group Meeting, Columbia -- Midlife Dating. (at New Hope Lutheran Church)

This week, coordinator Bob Gordon, MSOD, MA, MS, presents the topic Midlife Dating: Rules, Resources and Recommendations. (Building on the June 30th meeting, "Creating a Dating Site Profile That Gets Responses") Then, there will be small-group break-out sessions.

Newcomers please join us at 6:30 PM.

Regular meeting begins at 7:00 PM.

After looking at some online lists of dating advice, I chose to highlight some here:

Think about questions to ask that will help you get to know the person better.

Prepare a short answer  to the question, "Why did your last relationship not work out?". Make it not very detailed, and acknowledge your part in it and the positive growth you gained from the experience.

Listen and participate in the conversation. Too much talking or too much listening is just too much.

I found this short  phrase pithy: If the ex is on your mind, take some time. Be healed. Or mostly.

Give yourself permission to not be a professional at dating. Ease tension acknowledging mistakes or uncomfortable things like pregnant pauses in a lighthearted manner.

Attend the meeting and see what else we can learn and share with everyone.
