Friday, August 21: Drive to Yosemite National Park, Housekeeping Camp, approximately 5 hours from LA, and set up camp. North on 99 Fwy to 5 Fwy to Hwy 41 near Fresno. Northeast on Hwy 41 to Yosemite Valley to Housekeeping Camp. Register, unpack and have dinner at 7PM at the Mountain Room Restaurant at Yosemite Lodge.
Saturday, August 22: After breakfast, hike to Nevada Falls past Vernal Falls along the Merced River. The trail begins at Happy Iles and continues up the John Muir Trail. Have lunch at Nevada Falls. Total roundtrip is 8.5 miles with 1500 ft. elevation gain. Return to camp, have dinner at the Pavilion Buffet at Curry Village. Retire for evening.
Sunday, August 23: After breakfast, hike the Valley Loop to Bridal Vail Falls, past El Capitan, Yosemite Falls and Mirror Lake. Have lunch at Yosemite Falls. Total roundtrip is 6 miles with no elevation gain. Return to camp, have dinner at Degan’s Café in Yosemite Village, and retire for evening.
Monday, August 24: After breakfast, hike to Glacier Point along the Four Mile Trail. Have lunch at Glacier Point. Total round trip is 8 miles with 3,000 ft. elevation gain. Return to camp. Have dinner at the food court at Yosemite Lodge. Retire for evening.
Tuesday, August 25: Break camp pack up, have breakfast at the Ahwannee, and return to LA. On the return from Yosemite, visit the Miraposa Grove to view the giant sequoia trees.
Camping Essentials: Sleeping bag, day pack, canteen, cooler for food for 3 breakfasts and 3 lunches, beverages, stove, lantern, flashlight, cup, plate, and eating utensils, hiking shoes, camp shoes, clothes for hiking and evenings, camp chairs, personal articles and towel.
Lodging: Housekeeping Camp complete with camping shelter, double bed, 2 bunk beds, electricity and a table.
Reservations: Make your own reservations at (801) 559-4884. In case Housekeeping Camp is full, make reservations at the tent cabins in Curry Village.
Lodging Cost:: $38 plus tax per person per night double occupancy. Pay directly to campground reservations with credit card.
Deadline: ASAP. Note, there is a $20 per car entrance fee to the park. Fill your gas tank before entering the park.
