Improve Your Relationship with Money!

My goal for this event is to get as many people as possible thinking and talking about this subject -  so I'm excited to announce that the event fee has been reduced!  Instead of $27, the event is now only $17! Don't worry, if you've already paid, you'll be given a refund for the $10 difference at the door.

I LOVE THIS TOPIC! I coach clients on many subjects and this is always the one that gives me instant feedback - because my client's feel something change almost immediately.

As many of you know, I get married on Saturday and, yes, my week is a bit crazy, but I think this is such an important, and FUN, subject that there really is no way that I'd rather spend tonight than having this discussion with all of you!  Please help my "last event as an unmarried woman" go off with a bang - help me pack the room :)  I'd love to see you!

We've had some really great workshops and group discussions at events, the book club and at some of our fabulous workshops and there was a request for me to pull all of my materials together and present a workshop on improving your relationship - not with the opposite sex...but with money!  So I'm super excited to be bringing this to Singles in the Suburbs!

•  Does there never seem to be enough money?!

• Would life be easier if you made just a little bit more?

• Get your bills and throw them in the trash?

• Miss out on events with your friends because you don't have enough money?

• Find your self asking how you got into so much debt?

Our relationship with money is one of the most important relationships we have; yet, we tolerate things in that relationship that we'd NEVER tolerate in a relationship with people!  Fear, avoidance, trash talking and excuses!

When it comes to money, you are in this relationship FOR LIFE!  Shouldn't it be a HAPPY relationship?  A HEALTHY relationship?  Wouldn't you like to have more FUN with money?!

This workshop isn't geared towards quick fixes.  One or two date nights won't heal a relationship that hasn't been running smoothly for years.  Likewise, cutting off cable or bringing lunches to work (while sometimes necessary) will not help you turn an unhappy past with money into a happy future!

Join me to learn how to lay the foundation for immediately improving your relationship with money so that you can be on your way to having more FUN with it - and less Fear!

Food & Drink specials will be offered (at probably some of the most amazing happy hour prices I've seen in a long time in this area)!  There will also be raffles for some GREAT prizes (books, coaching sessions, gift certificates and more)!

It's going to be a truly FUN night!

The class takes place from 7:30-8:30! After the class, you'll have time to speak with me directly (I will hang out until about 9:30 in a quieter part of the restaurant) to ask any questions that may be more specific to your situation.

Be sure to get there early (that's why we are starting at 7) to place your food and drink orders as there will be minimal orders taken during the hour presentation (but you are free to order to your heart's content after).   ;)

WHO AM I?  (In addition to being "The Big Kahuna" of Singles in the Suburbs)

SpeakerRita Colbert

Rita Colbert is a Personal and Professional Adviser and also Founder of Singles in the Suburbs and Find Your Experience.  Seven years ago, Rita found herself suddenly single. Realizing that all of her friends were either married or in serious relationships, she set up a happy hour for other singles in hopes of making new friends who were in the same “non-married” boat.

Thirty people attended that first event. In just one month, the initial group of 30 grew into 100 singles attending Rita’s events and she has since founded Singles in the Suburbs, which hosts approximately 30 events a month and is now over 3,100 members strong. Members say that they love the organization because it celebrates being single!

After the end of another relationship, Rita decided to take a serious look at her approach to finding “the one.” To shake up her routine and get over her breakup, Rita decided to overdose on dating and went on 35 dates in 35 days. Her detailed blog of the experience can be found at

On her dating journey, Rita learned that she needed to stop questing for a husband and enjoy her relationships as they happened. She threw away her “perfect-mate checklist” and began to engage with the men she met. By doing so, Rita found greater self awareness. By mapping out who she is and putting that into the Universe, Rita was able to recognize the patterns that were sabotaging her relationships and learned how to approach dating from an entirely new perspective.

Those experiences introduced Rita to numerous people – men, women, single, married – and a wide range of experts. She was excited by the people she was meeting and wanted to bring them all together so, in 2013, she founded Find Your Experience. The mission of Find Your Experience is to build a community whose members are united on a quest for happiness. Find Your Experience creates an environment for individuals to meet and connect with members and experts for learning, fun, support and inspiration!

Rita advises people personally and professionally on enjoying and making the most out of life!

Rita's goal is to help others “Get up, Get out and Do something” so that they can be more present in their relationships, invested in themselves and, ultimately, empowered.

Rita has appeared in The Washington Post, Northern Virginia Magazine, WTOP, The Reston Connection,, Power Women Magazine, Learn How To Find Love with Dawn Maslar and Glittarazzi. She was the Dating and Relationship columnist for DC Ladies and a member of the Matchmakers Alliance.  Rita was nominated for Best Dating Coach in the 2014 iDate Awards.  She is happy to announce she is engaged and will become Mrs. Goodroe on April 12, 2014!
