Singles, come join a winter weekend tucked away on a riverfront log cabin on Calumet Island, Quebec. Come ski, snowshoe, and enjoy this rural escape, compliments of our Funabalu hostess, Karen Wallace.
We will travel 1 hour up the river to Karen's picturesque log cabin with nearby ski and snowshoe trails. This is an opportunity to get a break from the city in our beautiful countryside with other singles. Musicians welcome to bring instruments. Games and good fun suggestions welcome too.
We can accommodate up to 10 men and 10 women on a first come, first RSVP basis. Those who don't want to share a double/queen bed are welcome to bring their own cot, air mattress, etc. The plan is that we head up Saturday afternoon, ski/snowshoe, have dinner, make a fire, enjoy good company sharing music, stories and good times, stay overnight, and come back on Sunday. BYOB and share in a potluck or contribute funds towards food.
** This event is available to Winter activities program members only. If you want to become a member, just pay the $20 membership fee and you can join this and about a 100 other events for free.
The Cabin: There are two bathrooms. 10 db/queen beds, suitable for up to 20 people. If people do not want to share there is space for extra mattresses or cots that you are welcome to bring. First come, first dibs on the beds.
There is access to trails for skiing and snowshoeing, so bring your skis and snowshoes too.
We will have a potluck supper and potluck breakfast, so state what you are bringing. Otherwise, you are welcome to donate $20 to $30 towards the fare that we will buy to make up the difference.
BYOB Cottage is located on Grand Calumet Island about an hour from down town Ottawa (we can send directions to those attending, once you confirm you are coming).
Again, this is for Winter Activities Program members only. If you may like to become a Winter Activities Program member, please feel free to pay $20 for your membership.

Please note, only those who are Winter Activities Program members are confirmed as coming. Others have to either pay the $20 membership fee online, using the link this posting or affirm that they are coming and will pay cash in person. We follow this practice for club security and so we can commit to those who commit to fun. This is also the only way we can plan food and bed allocation based on a modest financial commitment.
January 1
ok...due to other committments I will be arriving late, near 7:30pm give or take so I will provide some entertainment, guitar, harmonica and singing or the evening (so no supper for me), a sharades game which is lots of fun, and for the morning, pancake mix and syrup and pineapple and that orange fruit (can't think of the name) and some apples. i will also be leaving around 11:30-12:00 the following day as I committed to another snowshoeing activity for 2pm.
JIM H buddy....you gotta come!!

From Karen's description, I've entered my best guess of the chalet location - it should be close.

On the Ontario side, go west on the 417/17 past renfrew. When you come to storeyland road, just past renfrew turn right onto storeyland road. Contine until you come to your first stop sign, turn right, to go to quebec. Keep going straight, (dont turn into portage du fort). At the end of this road you come to a T intersection at the 148. Turn left onto the 148 and travel a few km, while passing thru Bryson you will see a BMR building supply store on the right hand side, just past the BMR when the passing lane ends you will turn left to isle du grand calumet.. (If you go to Campbells bay you went tooooo far) go straight on this road and once you cross over the bridge you take your first left to chemin de la montagne (Mointain road). Go straight on this road and GO EXACTLY 8 Km from here on my cottage is number 32 on the left...
