"Beat Memories: The Photographs of Allen Ginsberg" @ the NGA & After Party

"I saw the best minds of my generation destroyed by madness, starving hysterical naked, dragging themselves through the negro streets at dawn looking for an angry fix, angelheaded hipsters burning for the ancient heavenly connection to the starry dynamo in the machinery of night..." - Opening Lines of Howl by Allen Ginsberg, 1955 Now you can see what Ginsberg saw (then and later) in this exhibition of photos he took from the 1950s to the 1990s. The works include photos of Jack Kerouac, William Burroughs, Ginsberg himself just before he achieved literary fame, and other Beat writers and friends. The exhibition is on the ground floor of the West Building of the National Gallery of Art. We will meet at 3 pm at the entrance to the Garden Cafe (also on the ground floor of the West Building). At 3:15 pm, we will go to the exhibition. After viewing the Beats, there will be free time to explore other galleries in the museum. We will reconvene at the Garden Cafe and walk together to a nearby Penn Quarter hot spot for more socializing. [img][/img]

This is a must-see for anyone with an interest in the Beatnik generation. Of course, I enjoyed the company, too. Thanks to Jeryl for organizing this event.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.

Henry, started Reno Motorcycle Riders
