Pablo Picasso is generally acknowledged as the greatest draftsman of the 20th century. Through some 55 works, the exhibition presents the dazzling development of Picasso's drawings over a 30-year period—from the precocious academic exercises of his youth in the 1890s to the virtuoso works of the early 1920s, including the radical innovations of cubism and collage.
The exhibition—opening the day of our Meetup—will be on view in the West Building of the National Gallery of Art, Ground Floor. We will meet at 3:30 PM in front of the Garden Café (also in the West Building on the Ground Floor, near the Constitution Avenue entrance) and proceed to the Picasso exhibition at 3:45 PM.
After viewing the Picasso drawings, at 4:45 PM, we will reconvene at the Garden Café and walk together to SEI Lounge (opens @ 5 PM) for Saki and other drinks, sushi and other treats, and socializing!
