Help Feed the Hungry!

Help feed the hungry!

When you volunteer at the Food Bank, you'll help sort and package the food we distribute to food pantries, children's snack programs and soup kitchens throughout San Francisco and Marin — enough for more than 100,000 meals each day.

Projects typically involve gleaning fresh produce, repackaging bulk food into family-sized quantities, assembling grocery boxes for seniors, and sorting donations from food drives and grocery stores. In a single shift, you'll be helping thousands of people get the food they need.

Parking:
Street parking is free, and our block has a 4-hour time limit — perfect for our volunteer shifts! Please utilize available street parking so that our agency shoppers can use our parking lot to load their vehicles.

Dress Code:
Volunteers must wear closed-toe shoes to participate in warehouse projects — no sandals, flip-flops or opened-toe shoes. We ask that you dress comfortably and respectfully. A sweatshirt or extra layer is recommended, as the temperature in our warehouse is often quite cool.

    Saturday instructions:
Use the south driveway entrance on the left side of the building, or park on the street. Use the second entrance on the south side, right next to the loading dock with a sign above it labelled Receiving. There are kiosks inside where you need to sign in. We'll get a brief orientation, go to work, and have a debrief at the end explaining the impact of our work. I'll be at the steps outside the Receiving entrance to greet people starting at 12:15, or else inside near the kiosks. If you need to reach me before 12:15, please call[masked]-4284. After 12:15 text the same number.
