Grand Funk Railroad is best known for their mega-hits We're an American Band, I'm Your Captain/Closer to Home, Locomotion, and Some Kind of Wonderful which still receive continuous airplay on Classic Rock radio.  Over their career, Grand Funk has had 19 charted singles, eight Top-40 hits, and two Number One singles (We're an American Band and Locomotion, both selling more than one million each).  The group has now accumulated 13 Gold and 10 Platinum records with record sales in excess of 25 million copies sold worldwide.  This will be the band's first performance at Greynolds Park celebrating the 10th Annual Love-In Party in the Park.

Mike Pinera's Blues Image was a critically acclaimed late 1960s rock band.  Their most successful song was Ride Captain Ride in the last half of 1970s which reached No.4 on Billboard Hot 100.  The band was formed in Tampa, Florida in 1966 by singer-guitarist Mike Pinera, singer-durmmer Manuel "Manny" Bertematti, singer-percussionist Joe Lala, keyboardist Emilio Garcia, and bassist Malcolm Jones.  Blues Image moved to Miami in 1968 and that same year were the first band ever to play at Greynolds Park together with the Grateful Dead.  It's an honor to have them play once again at Greynolds Park for the Love-In's 10th anniversary Love-In Party in the Park celebration.

It was a TOTAL BLAST and the BEST Year Ever at Greynolds Park. I was with several Meetup friends where we hiked into the woods, sighted wildlife & fish, along with all the drinking, eating, singing, and celebrating this fabulous "Love-In of the '60's!" Can't wait to do it all over again next year!!! :)~ :)~ :)~

I attended last year and I brought my own umbrella, chair and water. I remenber they was people drinking beer so I think they will sell beer there!

    1 · May 2, 2013

  • Debi

they never answered me about the chair, blankets. I even asked if we could bring a bottle of water. I'll try again tomorrow. i will have mine in the car if they let us bring them in.

When attending the past "Love-In" concerts at Greynolds Park, chairs and blankets were permitted. I would not expect to stand for hours throughout the day, or sit on the ground (that may be wet & soggy) without a chair or blanket. So I don't think that's a problem, but it would not hurt to call & confirm the rules remain the same as they've been in years past. I'd be surprised if they'd stop you for a bottle of water that may be inconspicuously concealed in a deep pocket or carrying bag. Hope they remain true to spirit of what this day is all about, and not turn it into some alien police state. It would only hurt their future attendance if that were the case. :)~
