Let's Run/Walk!

Southern Oaks Athletic Club has a new running club that starts at 8:30am, so you will have to be there a little early. You can run or walk, which ever you prefer. Meet 8:00-8:15am. The course is 1 mile and 3 mile and will take aprox 30-35mins to walk or slow run the 3 mile.

Would also like to know if there are any other running events anyone would like to participate in the local area. I also am part of the Happy's running club which meets at the downtown Happy's every Tuesday.

Sorry. As I thought might happen, something came up with my son and baseball. Have fun, y'all.

I think we should try the levee next weekend. It's a great work out with the steps. plenty of room for us all too, and we could walk over to the state capitol too. I was going to schedule it for this Saturday, but I have alot to do Saturday morning, so I will definitley plan it for next Saturday.

Just to answer a couple of questions earlier. I spoke with Kathi at Southern Oaks today and she did reaffirm that we can visit the first time for free, but like all participates we need to sign a waiver and the visitors sheet. This is my first time going so, if we decide to find another spot, we can do that, and we can all talk about it after the run/walk.

Transitioning from running into bicycling to keep weight on...oppositie challenge than the planet, but could enjoy a brisk walk then migrate to LSU City Park later for a bicycle adventure too.

I might join you on a bike ride one day. I have a decent bike but I've not ridden it much. Kind of waiting for Spring.

Very new to jogging. Just started training to jog a 5K. I'll be one of the slower ones there but I need to get away from my house if I plan on getting in a run on the weekends. Lol

Its now how fast you run...it finishing that counts. I started a year ago and I couldn't run a mile, running 15-20 miles a week now. Its just another good cheap way to keep healthy.

Hmm. The website says there's a $35 annual fee for non-members. Have y'all checked this out yet?

First few runs are free. I communicated with them via email about the fees and they are A-OK with that and expect it.

Dana, I think it would be great for kids to join us. I don't think their are any age restrictions to the club's run. I've never been so I don't know, but bring your son anyways, I'm sure it will be fine. I've never been to this running club and they are new (4 weeks) so we can figure it out then. If there is an issue then we can make our own Saturday morning group.

Is this for adults only? I'd like to get my son involved in walking/jogging. (He's 9 years old.) I just started a jogging group myself so even if he can't, I'm interested.

I'm announcing your meetups Greg so it'll get more attention, but I'm not planning to attend only because I'm just not a runner. But, it sounds like a great thing for those that do enjoy running... Good luck and have fun :)
