Ethics, Values and Norms in an Exponential Tech World

NEW / SURPRISE :

Philip Brey will speak as keynote speaker. He is the Full Professor in Philosophy of Technology, University of Twente and is the Scientific Director, 3TU.Centre for Ethics and Technology.

-----

Based on a lot of feedback during our first two events, we will now focus on the ethical aspects of Singularity and Exponential Technologies.

So this means we will discuss openly the implications of

- biotech

- neurotech

- AI / Big Data

- IoT, sensors, QS

- Robots, Drones

- nanotech

on Privacy, Security, Hackability, Access, Discrimation, Unforeseen Consequences, Irreversibility, Backups, Technological Dependency, Agency, Ambiguity of Data, Control, Asymmetric Transparency etc. etc.

We will start around 16:00 and end our conversation around 19:00 followed by drinks you pay for yourself.

There is no cost involved this time as this will be a BREAKOUT SESSION event with only 2 speakers. This is a P2P event, everybody can be a speaker and contributor. Informal, open, content driven.

So no money needed. Just your commitment, ideas and open mind...

    Great Meetup!
Some people asked me about the dashboard idea. In short: You as an indvidual are in charge of your virtual life and your own data through a dashboard. You use self protect & self privacy technologies instead of laws. The problem with laws is that they have turned into an inefficient and outdated tool.

If the creation of a dashboard were to become a global SU project, it would change the world. It means we finally would be able to control our virtual life, instead of being a toy in the hands of a few American tech monopolies. Yuri mentioned correctly Qi & Personal, indeed promising concepts that need to be combined into a new Self Control Movement - equivalent to the Maker Movement.

Believe me - if we succeed in creating this dashboard, then we will start a revolution close to the invention of book printing in the 15th century - more important than selfdriving cars and the healtmobile together.

Was an interesting meeting and a topic that has to be be at the core of technological developments. Thinking about consequences of exponential growth of technology in a structured way is important.
