Socratic Questioning and Story Telling
Happy New Year. Sometimes it is necessary for Skeptics to convince others to be Skeptical.
There are at least 6 types of Socratic questions. We'll talk about each with examples of each.
Also, while it seems reasonable that people should be convinced with facts and logic. We should always have the facts and logic on our side. In the end, the facts and logic are all that matter. However, stories are often more effective in relating basic ideas. Like Socratic questions, story telling should be within the toolbox of the well prepared Skeptic before engaging in credulous believers.
There will be time to discuss experiences that we've had over the holidays when trying to have meaning discussions with friends and family.
See you there!
The monthly meeting of the Skeptics of Tucson are held on the second Monday of the Month at the Denny's on Speedway, near Alvernon at 7PM. Many show up early for dinner and conversation prior to the official meeting.
