Friday Tech Talk: Tips for iOS App Sales Success

Jeremy Olson has spent a lot of time analyzing the types of iOS apps that are financially successful in the App Store.

From his research, he'll give us examples of apps that made their makers money, and why, and also pull out some tips that could be useful to those exploring app revenue models.

Thanks everyone for coming! Here is the link to the Smashing Magazine article I wrote that covers some of the same topics: http://mobile.smashingmagazine....

Jeremy, great presentation - really enjoyed it. I have taken on a couple clients who have built their own app with the expectation "If you build it, they will come." Thanks for the tips.

Thanks Anthony! Sorry we didn't have time to get too much into marketing.

I like simple! What guidance would you give for a non-technical sales force (aka people not building the app) to price mobile apps for clients when in front of them?

Just to be clear, you're asking how to give a ballpark estimate if you are a non-technical salesperson? Of course everything depends on your company and situation but ballpark, the average app project costs in the tens of thousands, I think. It also depends on whether your company is also providing strategy and design — not just programming. But I'll defer to the Skookum folks on this one because they are more experienced with client work than I am. Maybe we could discuss it after the talk if there is time.
