Silver Falls State Park Hike

We'll be hiking the "Trail of Ten Falls." There are also shorter options for those interested. Early spring is a great time to visit as the falls are full and wildflowers are blooming.

http://www.oregonstateparks.org/index.cfm?do=parkPage.dsp_parkPage&parkId=151

Bring sturdy hiking boots, plenty of water, snacks and/or lunch & your camera! Be prepared for muddy trail conditions.

Afterwards we'll have lunch near the creek at the South Falls Day Use Area.

No dogs please.

Note: There is a $5 day use parking fee.

About the Hike: The popular "Trail of Ten Falls" visits 10 spectacular waterfalls, five more than 100 feet high. The path even leads through mossy caverns behind the falls' shimmering silver curtains. This loop is suitable for beginning hikers because side trails provide shortcuts back to the car. Dogs are not allowed on the trail.

Difficulty: The full loop to see all 10 waterfalls (from South Falls to North Falls) is a moderate hike of 6.9 miles, gaining 700 feet of elevation, but a shortcut (omitting Twin and North Falls) trims the loop to 5.1 miles. For a shorter, 2.8-mile loop, turn back after Lower South Falls.

If you do not want to carpool, please meet us at the restrooms near the parking lot in the South Falls Day Use area at 10:30.

Exceptional Hike- waterfalls were full, wildflowers were blooming, and it didn't rain.
You missed a spectacular hike. We did the ten falls loop trail, although there were additional bonus falls to see, this time of year.
