In an early Simpsons episode, Marge’s French bowling instructor, Jacques, was attempting to seduce her by inviting her to brunch. “What’s brunch?” asked the oh so un-hip Marge. Stroking Marge's hand, Jacques purred, “It’s not quite breakfast, it’s not quite lunch, but it comes with a slice of cantaloupe. It’s very nice.”
Very nice, indeed. We're a group of hungry, fun-loving Philadelphians in our 20s, 30s, 40s and beyond who can appreciate a good brunch, avec ou sans cantaloupe. Our dining spots can range from the elegant and eclectic to the quirky and downright unexpected. We try to schedule most events for Sunday afternoons to allow for leisurely dining time, but we may delve into the occasional Friday or Saturday event, and even – dare I say – a dinner or two. And while most of our events are in Philadelphia, we're not adverse to venturing beyond the city limits (plus, I have a cool cantaloupe-colored car that we can use for carpooling!).
Keep in mind, age isn’t important here, but attitude is: this is not your mother’s brunch club! We’re all about good food, good laughs, good friends and the occasional slice of cantaloupe. Join us for a “Simp” –ly good time.
Autumn. Crisp air, vibrantly-colored trees and – what else? – wine! Let’s celebrate the season with a champagne brunch at Renault Winery, located about an hour outside of Philadelphia in Egg Harbor, NJ. Come enjoy a leisurely Sunday drive, delicious fare and gorgeous fall scenery. Read more
