Help Save Berkeley School Garden & Cooking Programs!

Short Films, Panel Discussion, and Next Steps

BUSD has one of the oldest and most successful food and nutrition programs. It teaches students where food comes from, how to grow and prepare it, and what to eat for lifelong health. For 15 years, this groundbreaking program has helped our kids and families fight obesity while improving learning readiness, academic performance, and engagement.

Funding has been cut at the state level. The program will be ended or drastically scaled back this fall. We need to forge a long-term solution to save this valuable, nationally recognized program. Community and school district members are working to meet this challenge and are
exploring several potential strategies to move us forward.

Join us for an informative evening celebrating of the successes of the program and creating a path forward to ensure its future. Kids welcome, but childcare not provided.

I can't think of a more perfect way to honor my mother's birthday than attending this event. She was a "school lunch lady" and would love to have been a part of this movement. Look forward to celebrate and more groundbreaking strategies and next steps!
