Hiking 101 Seminar

  • Apr 18, 2013 · 7:00 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

Hey all you "newbies" and anyone who needs a refresher. This will be a discussion and presentation on all things hiking. If you are new to hiking you'll want to attend.
We'll be discussing all sorts of hiking topics such as:
Why we Hike
Trip Ratings
Hiking books, guides and maps
Wildlife
Preparing for hiking
Hiking etiquette
Hiking Gear

and more

plus Q and A

There will be plenty of group involvement and hands on participation. It definately won't be a boring classroom type setting.

Everyone attending will recieve a DVD and hiking lists etc.

The seminar is being offered through The Slow and Steady Adventures Co. There is a $20 per person charge to help cover the cost of the room and materials plus refreshments.

Thanks to a great group of students with lots of questions and participation. It's great to see a group get so involved in what we're trying to teach. Special thanks to Jessica and Mike for helping out.

Awesome! I totally need a refresh on this and it looks like you have a high demand to get some more seats and expand that attendance list! Who else agrees?

When I get a larger room I will consider it. 20 is a nice comfortable number for an interactive experience. When the group gets too large it becomes just another lecture. I am palnning 2 of these seminars a month and other seminars when we can fit them in.

I signed up for the later date and because this one was full I will now be out of town for this date. Please open the spot to another interested hiker.
    Many thanks

Hey Andy - obviously this is a popular event, lots of us beginners out there. I always thought of hiking as put on your boots and go, but obviously there is more to it. I can't come either on the 29th - are you considering running another one after that? Thanks!

    April 10, 2013

    • Andy D.

I'll run them as long as they are popular and will also be adding more seminars on other hiking related subjects later.

Of course you can come Mike. Morgan was a big help for me on the first one. I have some ideas for the Nav for you also. We'll talk. It will also be good to have a co-host in case an "old" guy like me forgets something :)
