YoHo Weekend-T4- Strenuous

This is a Weekend event and we will be doing 2 long hikes. No Beginners. You have to be fit enough to do BOTH hikes. Please so not sign up thinking you will be doing just one day.

We will be driving out early on Saturday morning to do either the Whaleback or Iceline.

Saturday night we will stay at the hostel.

When you sign up for this hike you will be placed on the waiting list.

Once I get confirmation from you that the hostel is booked I will put you on the hike.

[masked] to book a bed at the hostel for July 27th.

Sunday we will pack up and then go for another great hike.

We will be going at a slow and steady pace no speed demons please. This is an area ment to be enjoyed.

We will see the twin falls from both above and below.

Elevation 730m

Iceline Trail --Starts right at the hostel. In a land of scenic superlatives - soaring, snow-capped peaks, surreal lakes and sparkling glaciers -Yoho National Park's Iceline Trail is a stand-out hiking route, offering an eye-popping kaleidoscope of mountain views, aquamarine waters, tumbling waterfalls, fresh green forests, wildflower meadows and rocky moraines.

Rain gear.....make sure you come with rain gear.
Cooler for perishable food. At the very least it is a 2.5-3 hr drive and not sure if we can put anything in the fridge until after the hike. Check in is not until afternoon.
See you all at Shouldice in the morning...7am.

Hey Alicia, sent you an email. Please give me a call about parking up near my place tomorrow. I'd call you but the number you gave me is long distance.

  • Natalia

Is anybody driving through Mission or downtown in the morning?

    July 26, 2013

  • Diane

I'm heading to shouldice via 16th ave and can pickup along the way if anyone likes. Maybe its just me but I'm not comfortable leaving my vehicle overnight at shouldice.

    July 23, 2013

    • Candice B.

That is a good point Diane. Karen is driving herself so we need two drivers but everyone else should either get dropped off at shouldice or arrange another pick up.

      July 23, 2013

    • Alicia Z.

Hi Diane, I may need your help to pick me up. I emailed you. Thanks.

Diane and Alison are driving for this event...everyone else I suggest you get dropped off at Shouldice or take the bus so we are not leaving cars overnight.

    July 25, 2013

  • Candice B.

The hostel has sheets and blankets and they do not really want us to bring sleeping bags. That being said it was cold last time we stayed for those sleeping on the bottom bunk. I will be bringing my sleeping bag insert and warm PJ's. :) if you get the top bunk it is warmer.

    July 24, 2013

    • Alicia Z.

Hi Candice, is it safe to park at the Shouldice overnight? I am little concerned. Any suggestion? Thanks

      July 24, 2013

Hi Candice, the reservation is still under Sandy's name. I will just go and check in and make payment with my credit card. When Sandy called the reservation center, this is what the rep told him.

    • Alicia Z.

Also, Candice, do I need to bring a sleeping bag?

Don't wait until the last minute to book the hostel the number of beds is limited. Just saying.....oh and it is a dorm (co-ed style) and they have to leave the windows open at night so bring something warm to wear to bed.
