Great introductory hike for Hiking 101 Grads

Taking the trail to the right leads to a long gradual ascent through the forest to the half-way point of the loop where you can view Moose Mountain and the group of mountains surrounding Banded Peak. The return trip skirts the edge of a steep hillside overlooking the Ranger Station and the Elbow Valley. We may venture off trail on the way back down if so inclined or as Andy says "and beyond".

Hiking Pace:We will be hiking in a relaxed pace; this is for the safety, health and enjoyment of all hikers. We will be stopping for great views, photos, rest breaks and the occasional head count.
Hiker requirements:Good sense of humor, healthy enough to complete the hike and a desire to explore the natural environment.
Note:Our pace will be slow and relaxed. It will not be a race to the top. Also, if you cannot stay with the group please refrain from signing up.

Distance: 7 km

Elevation gain: 213 meters.

Duration:2.5-3 hours plus driving time.  Please note: duration is approximate, always expect the unexpected and come prepared.

Daypack
Plenty of water
Hiking boots
Hiking poles (optional)
Bear Spray
Extra Snacks and/or Packed Lunch

Waivers: As per the new policy for waivers, I will bring the group waiver form with me to both the Calgary Meetup location and the trailhead. You must sign it before you will be allowed to go on this hike. You will also be asked to provide the name and phone number of an emergency contact. You are fully aware that organizers are not professional guides and you assume all responsibility for your safety and well-being. You are fully prepared with proper gear and you're physically fit to do this hike with the group.

Very sorry I couldn't get there today - really hope there's another similar hike soon. This is exactly the kind of hiking/walking I'm looking for.

Hi again: I don't think I'll be able to get there as I don't have a vehicle and am not familiar enough with the area.

Have a great hike and I hope to join you next time.

Hi Amy: Sorry I don't have a phone right now as I'm between Victoria and Calgary and my Victoria cell number doesn't have long distance! Aghhhh. Anyhow, I do have gmail phone, so I can call you if you want to give me your number. I am at[masked]th Ave., NE - in Renfrew - does that work for you? Can we please have a carpool location within the city? or can someone coming form the south pick me up at Chinook Mall? I work close to it. Don't want to drive all the way to the trailhead in the evening time.
